Chapelhall Primary School
|
The school offers many extra curricular activities to our pupils, which include, football coaching, library club, computing club and badminton. Senior pupils attend practices and rehearsals for sports and music at Caldervale High School funded by New Opportunities Funding. |
There are strong links between Chapelhall primary and parents of our pupils. A very positive link with families in this school is when parents or grandparents volunteer to help us either on a regular basis or when they can. Volunteers help to supervise educational visits, classroom activities, library and computing sessions, at social functions and on sports day.
There is an active school board and Parents Teacher Association. Recent activities which the PTA support is voluntary collection of 10p for funds each Wednesday morning, providing Christmas gifts and party food and juice. Also fundraising for equipment, children's discos, a disco/dance for the adults and our annual Christmas fayre.
There are also strong links within the local community; we join with St Aloysius staff and pupils for the joint carol service. Many of the local tradesfolk support fundraising by donating goods and helping at our annual fayre. We fundraise for others locally and send our service offerings at Christmas, Easter and summer to help those for whom we have special care. There are two school board places for co-opted members, representing the local community. The school accommodation is made available for community use and at present used once weekly for country dancing and as required by the PTA and school board.
Pupils normally transfer from primary to secondary between the ages of 11.5 and 12.5 so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education. Pupils from Chapelhall primary normally transfer to Caldervale High School.
